Our first opening at Mercury Twenty Gallery was a blast last Friday night. The street was hoppin with art lovers, music and lots of friends. Thanks to all who came out to support us and celebrate the new bigger Mercury Twenty Gallery.
We divided the space so that we could have two solo shows and one group show.
Charlie Milgrim had her "Spiral Jetsam" work as one of our solo artists. It was fun to see people interacting with her installation by walking through it as if it was a labyrinth.
I could not resist this sweet photo of
Eric Bohr and his son Elijah. Elijah helped us build our walls for the opening! Eric presented his solo show, "Ember Days." I could really connect with the powerful industrial feel to this work, since I grew up in a steel town like Eric. He included a video and sound track that records a slow motion ride he took on Amtrak.
Dewitt Cheng, a favorite art writer of ours, stopped by to celebrate with us. (Dewitt, we appreciate your support!)
The crowd just swelled...
...and swelled!! It is a great feeling to see so many people come out for art.
My friends, Sam and Kathryn came out and bought their favorite piece! As did my friends, Jeff and Caitlyn.
I finally got outside for some fresh air and do some dreaming with
Dave Meeker about our next vision for the gallery.
Looks like a few other people had the same idea.
You never know what funny shenanigans you will see on art murmur nights. This guy must have dissected his stuffed tiger. The men across the street at the auto body shop are probably still talking about this one.
FM Gallery, two doors down, also had their first opening. They provided a really great band outside. I think the band is called "Bullets Can't Kill Danny ". Hopefully you will find them on You Tube as soon as Michael posts his recording of them.
