New Gallery & New Work

Mercury Twenty has moved! This is a photo of our last day. We closed the gallery in February 2009 to get ready for our move to 475 25th Street in Oakland.

It was sad to see this stage end after three wonderful years of bonding as a group and showing some amazing art, but we knew we had a better spot on 25th Street!

Kathy did the honor of removing our old sign.

After four months of renovating the old 1912 barn on 25th Street we where able to have our first meeting in the space. Tim Carter and crew did a beautiful job transforming the space from a dark cave like warehouse into a light filled gallery.
Chela and Curtis begin the celebration with a little bubbly!
We toasted in the new space thanks to Dave's champagne. Although not all our members could attend.

I installed my latest work in the back of the gallery with Joan Weiss, Mary Curtis Ratcliff and Jamie Morgan. Here is a little peek before the opening.
The resin birds are moving to the wall! I have been recycling old drawers and harvesting more sticks.
This piece is called "The Well". You will see why when you use your imagination to climb up the bronze ladder and look inside. Thanks to my electrical minded friends, Michael and Dave, I was able to back light this piece below with a florescent light to transform the bird.
